Rambler Friendly Countries
Here is a short list of countries where the Rambler audio phrase books can be used. Please note however that not all countries may be listed and it is meant only as a guide.

French

Francophone Africa (namely West Africa), France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Belgium, French Polynesia, French Departments abroad such as New Caldonia, the island of Reunion, etc. and Quebec.

The asian countries: Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam - generally only the elite speak French. So it might not be that useful speaking to the "man on the street".

As for the African countries, a good general rule is this: expect city folk to speak some French. Country folk, however, probably won't. Also, in West Africa, the informal tu as opposed to the formal vous used in Rambler is more prevalent.

German

Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In Austria and Switzerland however, be aware that because of heavy accents and local dialects, using Rambler German, they will be able to understand you, but you may not be able to understand them.

Italian

Unlike other languages, Italian is spoken for the most part only in Italy.

Spanish

Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Spain (although they call the computer - ordenador and other catchy words), Uruguay, Venezuela

With Spanish we recognize that there may be slight variations in accents and words used between so many varying countries. But with Rambler we have recorded a Spanish neutral version that will help minimize any lack of understanding. So using Rambler in Spain for example will work just as well as in Mexico.
